My Journey To Thailand

Hello everyone, Riley here! Sorry for going on an unexpected hiatus. For the past week, I have gone on a trip with my partner to our neighbouring country – Thailand! I’ve always wanted to visit a country of SEA and decided to make Thailand my first stop. We stayed there for 5 days and let me tell you all the things we’ve done!

The Allure of Thai Cuisine

One of the most memorable aspects of my journey was the incredible Thai cuisine. The flavours are a perfect harmony of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy, making every meal a culinary adventure. I still remember my first taste of Pad Thai from a street vendor in Bangkok; the dish was a medley of stir-fried noodles, prawns, tofu, peanuts, and bean sprouts, all wrapped in a delicate balance of tamarind sauce and chilli. Another favourite was Som Tum, a spicy green papaya salad that offered a refreshing yet fiery kick.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Thailand is the world’s largest exporter of rice? It’s no wonder that rice plays a central role in their cuisine, often served with a variety of dishes.

Exploring Bangkok: A City of Contrasts

Bangkok, Thailand’s bustling capital, is a city of contrasts where ancient temples stand alongside modern skyscrapers. We also happened to be staying in Bangkok for this journey! My visit to the Grand Palace was awe-inspiring. The intricate details and grandeur of the palace, particularly the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), left me speechless. I also explored the vibrant streets of Khao San Road, famous for its lively nightlife and eclectic mix of shops and food stalls. The contrast between the serene temples and the energetic street life encapsulated the unique charm of Bangkok.

Island Hopping in the Andaman Sea

No trip to Thailand would be complete without experiencing its pristine beaches. I spent Day 3 and 4 island hopping in the Andaman Sea, visiting places like Phuket, Phi Phi Islands, and Krabi. The crystal-clear waters and stunning limestone cliffs were straight out of a postcard. Snorkelling in the vibrant coral reefs and lounging on the soft, sandy beaches were some of the most relaxing and visually stunning parts of my trip. Each island had its own charm, with Phuket offering lively beach parties and Krabi providing more secluded and tranquil spots.

A Journey to Remember

My travels through Thailand were nothing short of magical. The country’s unique blend of delicious cuisine, rich culture, and breathtaking landscapes made it an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re a foodie, a history buff, or an adventure seeker, Thailand has something to offer everyone. As I reflect on my journey, I’m filled with a sense of gratitude for the memories created and the warmth of the Thai people. If you’re considering a trip to Southeast Asia, Thailand should undoubtedly be at the top of your list.
